If you are thinking of getting a hold of the career in law, then knowing all the types of law specialties is a must. Be it a law career in the private sector or a career in the government sector, choosing law as a career can take one to different places for good.
It is also very important for the students to get admission in the best college or university. UGC approved Universities like the Sharda University are one of the best places for law studies. Four Categories of Law

  1. Corporate Law – Lawyers who take care of a business’ legal boundaries.
  2. Criminal Law – Lawyers ensuring every citizen to abide by the laws.
  3. Energy Law – Lawyers to oversee the taxation of energy and approving licences to industries.
  4. International Law – Lawyers improving relations of one nation with the other.
  1. Corporate Law

The main job of corporate lawyers is to take care of business and making it abide by law.
Corporate lawyers help the clients and professionals to run their business while staying within the legal boundaries. They need to take care of legality of the products manufactured, transactions and all the other practices. Just like other courses, corporate lawyers also need to get a degree from a law school and practice further.
Salary: On an average, a corporate lawyer can earn up to INR 6-7 Lakhs annually.
  1. Energy Law

Energy Lawyers work with companies to manage the taxation of energy. These are also known as ‘extraction’ charges. They take care of providing information about rights of the companies on energy-rich lands and their licenses.
Energy lawyers work with industries using energy sources, municipal utilities and public utilities.
Salary: On an average, a corporate lawyer can earn up to INR 7-8 Lakhs annually.
  1. Criminal Law

This is one of the most opted law types. In Criminal law, lawyers need to make sure that the individuals abide by the set criminal statute or laws. In case someone commits any offense by breaking the law, lawyers guide the suitable measure as per the body of criminal law.
Salary: On an average, the starting salary of a criminal lawyer can be INR 4-5 Lakhs.

Indian Penal Code, 1860
Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
Indian Evidence Act, 1872
  1. International Law

International law is about the rules made by customs or treaty, recognized by the nations for trading and building relations with each other.
An international lawyer needs to take care of the legal practices on disputes on an international level. The disputes can be related to international trade or international business.
Salary: On an average, one can earn up to INR 6-7 Lakhs annually.

The Good of the People is the Greatest Law

Notwithstanding all mentioned above, take care of one thing – ‘the responsibilities’. Despite looking at the luring profiles, one needs to make sure if he/she is ready to take the charge and take up this responsible job.
